I have been amused by all of this cold, rational discussion about the prospective Auto Bridge Loan as to whether or not the country should "just let Detroit die" as if no actual people live or work here whose lives would be destroyed by that choice.

And when I say amused, I really mean seething.

I was very, very happy about Obama winning last Tuesday, but that happiness was definitely tempered by Proposition 8, the measure banning gay marriage in California, passing. Many states have electioneering rules, which in some cases can be used against people wearing shirts, buttons, hats, etc. bearing the name of their chosen candidate. Just as an FYI as we get closer to Nov. 4 -- please make sure that your voter registration and whatever ID you're going to use to vote match exactly. If they do not, it is likely your vote will be challenged, and you will have to vote with a provisional ballot, which will basically mean your vote will not be counted. I try and avoid politics on my LJ for the most part, simply because I have many friends I would prefer to not antagonize if I can avoid it, since we get along very well as long as politics doesn't come up.
